On The Rise

“In an effort to expand our theme, we’ve introduced a new category simply called, on the rise.” Fast food is an ever growing industry with a multitude of new restaurants, cafe’s, or bakeries opening nationwide. “We’d like to focus attention on places where expansion and new ideas are forthcoming. QSRmagazine reports House of Bread Bakery Cafe’ as one to watch.

…After four successful years with one location, House of Bread started franchising in 2000, and by 2003 had 10 locations. The company then ran smack into the low-carb craze, one of a number of factors McCann says caused franchising efforts to drop off and brought the number of stores down to seven by the beginning of 2010. Now, however, she’s tweaked the concept and is ready to grow again. Despite the lingering recession, McCann is hoping to sell six new franchises by the end of the year…

“Why spend $3-4 on a loaf of bread, when you can get an excellent loaf of bread for about $5-7?” “Supermarkets offer convenience and supply more than half of our groceries, but a bakery specializes in fresh ingredients, breads, rolls, and provides a level of service more personal than that of a supermarket.” The bottom line… treat yourself to an old-fashioned loaf of bread as it was made long ago.”
